Updated for 2017-18. Children and adults sometimes need a focus at times of stress and anxiety. Concentrating the mind on a straightforward activity such as colouring can have a calming effect and Allow for refocus. This resource might help an individual regain focus.
Over 30 original drawings are provided ready for colouring. The drawings vary in complexity. Some are simple outline drawings, whilst others have looser shapes and lines which will require greater creative input.

This year NAME has been developing his creative skills through mask making, the dramatic representation of landscapes and artwork relating to recycling. This has allowed NAME to focus on painting, drawing, and 3 dimensional modelling in a range of materials. NAME has performed satisfactorily most of the time but would have benefitted from working harder at disciplines that don’t always come easily, such as drawing. The quality of NAME’s homework usually demonstrates effort and commitment and usually deadlines are met. NAME has shown an openness to try out new techniques which is helping him to improve the standard of his final outcomes. Well done NAME, you should be proud of the progress that you have made this year.
This resource provides over 30 black and white abstract images. They have been designed to allow colour to be added in a variety of ways. Some students might like to develop “realistic” pictures of actual objects or scenes by thinking carefully about which sections to apply colour to. Other students might want to use the images as a basis for pattern work, or simply apply colour in a random way.
Colour can be applied using pencil crayon, felt tip or even paint. If using paint make sure that the images are printed onto appropriately robust paper.
This resource is ideal for use as an extension activity towards the end of a main project.
